Franklin D. Kohel

Tybee Island- Franklin Dean Kohel, 74, born on March 4, 1935, died March 30, 2009.
He was raised in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska. He served in the U. S. Navy and the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He is a member of Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church, a member of American Legion Post 154, and a member of the DAV's of Tybee. He was married to Jane E. Thomas on August 5, 1958. He worked for NASA at Cape Canaveral. He worked in Civil Service for twenty years as a carpenter and has been on Tybee since 1958.
He is predeceased by his wife, Jane T. Kohel, brother, Jerry Kohel, sons, Daniel Wayne Kohel, Sr. and "Chip" Peter Williams.
He is survived by a daughter, Catherine W. Floyd Lamar, grandson Travis Williams Lisa, granddaughter Tracy Behrens Jason, grandson Daniel W. Kohel, Jr. and great-grandchildren, Jessica, Gabriel and Noah.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday at Trinity Chapel United Methodist Church.
Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
Remembrances may be made to the American Legion Post 154, Tybee Island, GA 31328.
